BOCAS SANDY PAWS SANCTUARY WELCOMES YOU

MY VISION

Opening the first Pet Sanctuary on the island Bocas Del Toro. So many Dogs and Cats are living in the Streets, neglected,  sick, starving. These Pets deserve a safe place and hopefully, we find forever homes for them. 

MY GOAL

My name is Shana Dominique and I'm a Panamanian Caribbean island girl now 17 years old. I'm so lucky to grow up on an island and I enjoy it every day. The love of animals is already in my DNA and wherever I can, I help them. Sadly, we have a lot of street animals and they are starving, have Parasites, and lots times as well skin disease. 

Since Covid, it is even more difficult for them as we have no income on the island that depends on Tourists.

Therefore, I want to open Bocas Sandy Paws Animal Sanctuary, so sick and badly treated animals can find a sanctuary, and hopefully, we find a forever home for them.

I want to create a nonprofit organization, buy a piece of land and build here an animal refuge.

The Sanctuary should have sleeping rooms, so I can offer volunteers a place as well I want to have an office where a Vet can work, check on the animals, and operate.

MY PROJECT

We're always working on something. Most of the time, we're focused on getting results for our clients. But every so often we get the chance to experiment with new concepts and ideas. First opening a nonprofit organization, once this is done buy a piece of land and start building a shelter. I am lucky to have visited shelters in Europe and together with my friends we brainstorm how we combine everything to our island needs. 

I want around 4 sleeping rooms for Volunteers who help the animals, learn Spanish and get to know our culture. I will talk with our high school to allow helping in the Sanctuary as an extracurricular activity. I am very sure a lot of people in the Bocas community will help and assist.
